   ***Important Information Concerning the January 2017 Benefit Payments***

MainePERS incorrectly calculated Maine income tax withholding for many, but not all, of our benefit recipients’ January 2017 payments.  We sincerely regret this error and apologize for the inconvenience it may have caused our members. 

Refunds have been processed and are being sent by direct deposit to the same account that your benefit check is normally deposited.  If you currently receive your payment by check, you will receive a refund check in the mail.  Letters providing the details of individual refund amounts are being prepared for mailing now and are expected to be distributed the week of February 6th.
