If you are considering retirement, we have provided links under the "Pre-Retired Teachers" button to information that will assist you in your transition from employment to retirement.
As an active teacher planning for retirement, or a retiree who is not yet a member of MEA-R, we also want you to know the benefits of membership. Membership pays! Good morning, Friends,
I have consulted with MEA President Grace Leavitt and Executive Director Paula Voelker regarding the following announcement:
Given the demographics of MEA-Retired meetings, I recommend that we postpone affiliate meetings for the next two weeks to see if the the virus peaks and starts to descend in its severity.
We will make another announcement on Friday, March 27.

LD 178 Passes in Committee!
LD 178, a bill in the state legislature that would lift the amount paid towards health care for retired educators in the MainePERS system, has been voted on in the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee, and received bipartisan support. Please contact your representatives and encourage them to support LD 178 when it is being voted on in the House and Senate.
